California

I'm a little late getting around to putting this up but we went to California with the whole Howard family in February for Steven and Lydia's wedding on Feb. 16th. Samuel was so excited because he got to fly in an airplane for the first time. He loved it! We had an extra day after the wedding so while the newlyweds were at Disneyland, we all went to the Sequoia National Forest. It had snowed a few days before we went up there and there were still several feet of snow on the ground. The kids (and Uncle Jon) had lots of fun throwing snowballs.

Pirates, rock monsters, and cheese "girls"

Saturday we took Samuel to see the Veggie Tales movie, "The Pirates Who Don't do Anything". We weren't sure how he would do since this was his first real movie, but he was good. He sat through the whole movie and hardly talked at all. I think the huge bag of popcorn in his lap helped a little! If you haven't seen the movie, it was pretty good especially for kids.
After the movie we asked Samuel what his favorite part was and he said, "The cheese girls were chasing Mr. Bellybutton" For those of you who are not Veggie Tales enthusiasts, I'll translate for you. Mr. Bellybutton is otherwise known as Mr. Luntz, the gourd who sings the Cheeseburger Song and also the Bellybutton song hence the nickname. The cheese girls were actually cheese curls that came alive. I'm not sure Samuel understood that they were supposed to be like Cheetos which might be a good thing since those are one of the few foods he actually eats. Samuel also liked the Rock Monstors on one of the islands. They were rocks that came alive and helped the Pirates.
All in all I guess our first attempt at a "real" movie went over well. Now we just have to wait for another decent kids movie so we can take him again!
