PreK - Week 14

This week we read stories about the disciples after Jesus resurrection - the women finding the empty tomb, Peter and John running to see Jesus' grave and finding it empty, Jesus appearing to the disciples and showing his hands and feet. We started the letter P this week and have also started doing our LA program at full speed as of this week. That means that we will be doing both upper and lowercase letters in one week from now on. Samuel has been doing well with the extra work. We also read some stories and did a few activities about Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving

We hosted two Thanksgiving dinners at our house this year. First, Adam's family came on Thanksgving day. Then on Saturday we had Thanksgiving with my family. Samuel was super excited to see his cousins again. He also loved helping out with all the Thanksgiving cooking. Over the course of the weekend he helped make pumpkin bread, yeast rolls, pumpkin pie, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, and mincemeat pie. There may have been a few other things that I missed. Every time I looked up, he seemed to be in the kitchen helping somebody.

PreK - Week 13

This week we read about Peter denying Jesus, Jesus' death, and Jesus' resurrection. We began learning to write uppercase H. We also read stories and did activities about chickens. We read The Little Red Hen several times and Samuel loved it!

This was a little booklet he made after we read the Little Red Hen. He had to match each animal in the story with the sound that they make.

PreK - Week 12

This week we read several stories leading up to Jesus' crucifixion - entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, Jesus praying in the garden, and Judas' betrayal of Jesus. We began learning lowercase h. Samuel has been doing a great job with all of his letters and I'm amazed at how well he is doing with his writing for his age. We also read books and did activities about ducks.

Ice Skating

Adam and I took the middle school youth ice skating and Samuel went with us. He had been once before when Uncle Steven and Aunt Lydia were visiting last Christmas and loved it. He really had fun this time too especially since he was there with all the "big kids".

PreK - Week 11

This week we read several different stories about Jesus - how he loved the little children, his transfiguration on the mountain, and about a poor woman who gave all she had. This was reveiw week in LA so we didn't learn any new letters, but we did review the ones we've learned so far. We read Are You My Mother and did a lapbook that went along with it. We also read other stories and did a few other crafts related to birds.

Tennessee vs. South Carolina

Adam and I went to the UT vs South Carolina game on Saturday night with Jon and Kristin. Jon had found tickets online for row 1 in the end zone. Adam and Jon were super excited to be so close to the field. It was cold and rainy, but we all had fun and best of all -- Tennessee won!

It finally stopped raining by the 4th quarter and by the end of the game it was pretty nice out but still a little cold.

Trick or Treat

Grandma, Gramps, Aunt Jennifer, and Uncle Scott took Samuel trick or treating with Noah and Jack. Adam and I were at the UT football game that night so we couldn't go. He was dressed as Darth Vader, but right before they left the house he changed his mind and decided to be a pirate instead. I didn't get a chance to get any pictures of him in his pirate costume, but here he was as Darth Vader.
