Little Hands Toward Heaven - Unit 11

This week we finished up Unit 11 - The Time of the Judges. We started out talking about Gideon. We read about how God told Gideon to choose an army based on how the men drank - with their hands, or lapping like a dog. We drew a picture to show that God told Gideon to choose the men who drank with their hands.

We also learned the Letter I this week. Every week I try to get Samuel to try to practice writing whatever letter we're working on. Most days, he won't even attempt it. For some reason, he was excited about the Letter I and liked writing it.

Samuel didn't quite understand how some of the men drank with their hands and some lapped like a dog. So, I filled the bathroom sink with water and showed him how to do it both ways. He thought that was hilarious and of course he loved it because he got to play in water.

The next day we read a little about Samson. Samuel already knew that Samson was really strong from one of his other Bible storybooks. He was excited that he already knew the story. We also worked on our I letter worksheet.

For our activity, I got different things out of the pantry and Samuel had to put them in order from heaviest to lightest. He did a pretty good job figuring out which order to put them in without much help from me.

The next day we finished reading Samuel's story. We talked about how his hair was cut off so he lost all his strength, but he prayed and asked God for it back so he could pull down the building on the Philistines. We also did a craft for the letter I.

The next day we read about Ruth. We read how she chose to stay with Naomi and go with her to her people. I didn't get any pictures that day.
The last day we finished reading about Ruth. We read how she was a hard worker and worked in the fields gathering wheat. For our craft project we made a wheat stalk out of popcorn. Samuel loved it. Daddy even got home from work early enought to help us with it.

And of course, we couldn't end the week without having tape day. It's Samuel's favorite part!
