Little Hands Toward Heaven - Unit 4

It took us awhile to get this unit done because we took a couple of breaks for Labor Day and then we had Uncle Jon visiting us, but we are finally finished. From here on out, we should be on track to finish a unit every 2 weeks.

Anyway, Unit 4 was about Isaac and His Sons. We started out learning a new rhyme called, One Dusty Camel. Samuel didn't act like he liked it as it wasn't as active as some of the other rhymes, but I overheard it saying it to himself in his room a couple of times so he must have remembered it. Our letter for this week was the Letter D.

Our first story was about Isaac sending a servant far away to bring back Rebekah for him to marry. We also worked on the Number Four page for our counting book. We cut out pictures of 4 women from magazines and glued them on the page. Samuel had fun with that because he loves anything that involves glue!

Our next story was about Jacob pretending to be Esau and getting the blessing from Isaac. For our art activity, Samuel was supposed to write his name and then draw a picture over it to try to "disguise" his name to show that Jacob had disguised himself to steal the blessing. Well, I drew Samuel's name in dots for him to connect to write his name and he had so much fun with that he refused to do anything else. He kept asking me to make more letters with dots. I ended up doing the whole alphabet for him and he actually did pretty good.

The next story was about Jacob leaving and how he met and married Rachel. Samuel also worked on a worksheet for the Letter D.

The next story was about Jacob wrestling with an angel. Samuel liked that story because he and I wrestled afterward. He also made a Letter D out of beans. Again, he loved it because it involved glue.

Our last story was about Jacob going back home and Esau forgiving him. We also read a devotional about doing to others what you want them to do to you. We also practiced writing the letter D, but I forgot to take pictures.

Are you homeschooling Samuel? Is it mostly Bible lessons or is it a mix of other things. I noticed you're doing letters and numbers. What curriculum are you using?

Samuel has grown so much!!! What a big boy! He's so cute!

Yes, we just started homeschooling a couple of months ago. We're doing preschool to get into a routine before having to start the "real thing" in Kindergarten. Little Hands Towards Heaven is a preschool curriculum from Heart of Dakota. The website is www.HeartofDakota.com It has bible stories, finger plays/rhymes, art projects, simple math, simple science, introducing letters, etc. It is really fun and Samuel loves it!
